This Gen II model has been reworked to fire the hood open via a downward-only press of the release trigger, this new model therefore allows the user to activate the hood with an intuitive and easy to learn thumb press instead of the inconsistent wiggly thumb-dance some other types of hoods require. Also, a bonus for the holster builder is that this new mechanism’s action was designed to be mounted to and be fully supported by a single layer of 0.080” Kydex, therefore it’s no longer necessary to reinforce the area around the trigger mount, no more extra plates and unnecessary bulk/weight. So far after building 6 rigs with these Gen II hoods I’ve found great quality control with all of them functioning perfectly.

Used this for a drop leg holster with the RTI system. Very slick product, good action on it. It does take some tweaking to figure out how to mount it correctly. Make sure the pivot for the free end of the strap is inline with the pivot axis on the release side.
